The City of Helsinki Executive Office, Helsinki Art Museum HAM and YIT are organising a competition to find a public work of art to be located on Fredikanterassi.
The purpose of the competition is to find several permanent and site-specific public artworks for the pedestrian area of a bridge that will connect East and West Pasila. The area will be called Fredikanterassi and will be located in front of the Tripla complex which is expected to be completed in 2021.
There will be considerable investment in the quality and amenity of the public outdoor space in Central Pasila. The Fredikanterassi artwork competition is a joint project of the City of Helsinki and YIT which has the aim of increasing the attractiveness of the area.
The percentage financing principle, which is also in use at Central Pasila, will provide the funds for the artworks: in connection with the plot conveyance, funds have been collected from the area’s developers to enable public art projects.
